The ‘Langley Marina’ Tour

Our ‘Langley Marina’ 2.5-hour tours are perfect for adults and teens ( ages 13+) who are new to kayaking or for those who are trying to see and do everything that Whidbey has to offer in a short amount of time. With a backdrop of Whidbey and Camano islands, a majestic view of the Cascade mountains, and a range of wildlife from seals, crabs, eagles, heron, and more, these tours are an easy and convenient way to get out onto the water. Our marina provides a sheltered place for people to get used to the boats, but it is small, so the group moves swiftly out to the open water of the Salish Sea to explore Whidbey Island’s coastline. Another benefit of this tour is that it does not include a beach break; therefore it reduces the anxiety that some people have about getting in and out of the kayaks. Our guides will give you a ‘paddle 101’ lesson, help get you comfortable in your kayak, and will educate and entertain you all while keeping you safe. They know the temperament of the area—the currents, the winds, and the power boat traffic—and they will customize the trip plan to provide the best possible experience.

QUICK DETAILS:

Meet Location: Our headquarters at 201 Wharf Street in the Langley Marina/South Whidbey Harbor. (map)
Duration: 2.5 hours (approximately 30 minutes of prep and instruction and 2 hours on the water)

We offer our Langley Marina tour as a shared tour and also as a private tour.
Group Tour Pricing: $79 per paddler, plus WA State sales tax. We need at least 4 paddlers to run a group tour.  Groups of three or less may sign up for group tours, but if we don't get any other guests for that tour, you will be asked to switch dates, upgrade to a private tour or do a kayak rental.  We use tandem (2-person) kayaks on our group tours.

Private Tour Pricing: Up to 4 people, is $350 plus tax and fees. Each additional person is $60. Private groups can opt for single kayaks, tandems or a combination of both. We maintain a guide to boat ratio of 1:4.

The ‘Family Fun’ Tour

The slower pace of this 2-hour tour is perfect for families with children aged 12 and younger. We start at 10:00am and wrap up in time for lunch and before the wind and waves that can appear in the afternoon. We'll take it easy, leaving plenty of time for wildlife observation and paddling fun.

Children and Our Tours: Kids love our tours! We don’t have a minimum age for our tours, but children must fit OUR lifejackets, which fit those who weigh at least 50 pounds. Also, each child under the age of 15 must share a tandem/2-person kayak with an adult. BUT…

Considerations for parents: Not all children have the patience or attention span to be able to sit in a kayak for 2 hours. Also, your child may stop paddling after 10 minutes…ask yourself…are you ready to paddle a tandem kayak by yourself on a group tour that may have faster paddlers? A 90 minute rental may be a better way to introduce your children to kayaking, especially those who are younger than age 8. If you are a single adult with 2 children, we ask that you find another adult family member or friend to join you before you make your reservation.
