RETREATS THAT WORK
More than a paddle. A day designed with purpose.
You're not just looking for a group outing. You're building something. A stronger team. A real conversation. A shared experience that changes how people see each other and work together.
We run water-based retreats for groups who show up with intention: leadership teams ready to think differently, facilitators bringing groups through focused work, organizations putting real time into their people. The water becomes the setting for big ideas and better camaraderie.
This isn't a tour with more people. It's a different kind of day, and we prepare for it differently.
WHAT MAKES A RETREAT
It's not about the number of kayaks.
A group of 20 celebrating a wedding? That's a private tour. A group of 12 doing strategic planning with exercises built into the day? That's a retreat.
The difference is intent. And programming.
We build structure into the experience. Team exercises on the water and the beach. Guided moments that show how your group communicates, leads, and connects. Time for reflection between the action
We prep differently. When you book a retreat, we're not just showing up with boats. We're bringing games, exercises, and a plan built around what you're trying to get done.
ON-WATER EXERCISES
Play With Purpose
You’ll love our on-water games for the way they instantly get people communicating, competing and laughing. Some activities require coordination. Some are chaotic and stretch group problem-solving skills. All of them mix the mental and the physical to show how your team actually works together.
ON-BEACH EXERCISES
Warm-ups and challenges that set the tone.
Paddle Circle. Everyone stands in a circle, paddle upright. On the call, everyone shifts one position and grabs the next paddle before it falls. Speed increases. People get eliminated. It's a fast way to get a group laughing and paying attention.
The Whipped Cream Challenge. Our favorite closer. Of all the things that bring people together, chucking whipped cream and catching it in your mouth is surprisingly effective.
WHAT THE GAMES SURFACE
The exercises are simple. What they show isn't.
How your team communicates under pressure. Who steps up to lead, and how they do it. Where the real connections live, and where the gaps are. These things come out when people are laughing, moving, and a little off-balance.
The water has a way of making the invisible visible.

“I host Physician Leadership retreats on Whidbey Island every year and always schedule an afternoon kayak tour with Whidbey Island Kayaking. They do an amazing job providing a safe outdoor adventure experience for our retreat participants which integrates team work and physical activity. All our physicians tell us it is one of the highlights of the weekend.”

HOW IT WORKS
1. Tell us what you're working toward.
What's the retreat for? Team cohesion, strategic thinking, celebrating a big moment, working through a transition? Time and cost constraints? The clearer you are, the better we can plan.
2. We'll propose a structure.
Which exercises fit. How much time on water vs. beach. Whether we break into smaller groups or stay together. We'll shape it around your goals.
3. You handle your people, we handle the water.
You know your group: who paddles with whom, who needs support, who's ready to lead. We'll bring the equipment, the know-how, and the programming.
READY TO START PLANNING?
Retreats take more coordination than standard bookings. Reach out and tell us what you're working on. We'll take it from there. What your team discovers out here tends to follow them back.
